It is a difficult task to decide the right keywords for your content that perfectly blends and does not seem forced just for the sake of Search Engine Optimization. On the brighter side, these keywords are not difficult to find.

The real hard work goes into choosing the words that are most relevant to the content. Even then, sometimes, you can face a situation where some of the words are just not as relevant to the content but they may help you rank better.

In this case, you have an option to use them as secondary keywords. This is another use of them other than minimizing the competition for the top rankings in the optimization.

These secondary keywords are basically those words that are secondary to the primary words and primary words are considered to be those that are most popular in the search engines.

They are recommended for websites that are new in the market because it becomes hard for them to compete with the websites that have already grabbed top rankings. First, they need a base in the market before they are ready for the competition, and by the base, we mean some positive ranking.

Secondary keywords are the most effective way to build this base and start preparing for the real competition that is fought with the primary keywords. The factor behind the instant success of the secondary keywords has a lot to do with the fact that they are not as frequently searched as the primary category and not as much used as they should be.

Chances are if you use primary keywords you are likely to be ranked better. The trick is to build the content in accordance with the keywords (does not matter whether they are primary or secondary) and not vice versa.

To find the perfect secondary keywords Google provides a special tool called Google Keyword Planner and a lot of other tools and apps are available. Other than that, it can also be done through a search engine where Google Autocomplete will be of help by guessing what you are trying to type and suggesting the most popular phrases and keywords for that.

And where the search results for a page ends, more popular related searches are presented to you. Those suggestions also come in handy when you need to figure out the secondary keywords. Just like the primary keywords, secondary keywords should also be included in the content at least once.
