We have talked about how important it is for website owners to provide Structured Data of their content, if they want to rank on top of the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPS), for the convenience of Google Bots as well as the new visitors.
To make the process easier and efficient, Google introduced the Rich Cards in 2016 and implemented it globally the next year.
The central theme of this major change on the face of search result pages is the convenience of the users since the sole concept of Structuring Data was to make the job of Google Bots easier with only slight regard for providing a convenient navigation experience to the visitors of these sites.
Rich Cards are based and built on the success of the Rich Snippets and encourage the website owners to use content-related pictures in the representation of their websites on the SERPs. They are known by this name because their appearance on a search result page is similar to average size cards.
These cards have been classified by Google as a Search Engine Format. The benefits of this new format is manifold for websites that are publishing content like recipes or are run by restaurants as their official websites.
In the case of the latter, the restaurant’s most famous dishes and the most tempting attractions such as the cakes and the desserts will be featured on the Rich Cards along with the price and overall ratings.
The target audience of Rich Cards is mobile users since the revolutionary evolution of mobile phones in the forms of IOS and Android has made people rely more and more on them and lesser on laptops and computers for their day-to-day personal routine. Plus smartphones are easy to operate and convenient to carry.
Other than the recipes and restaurant or dishes reviews, and if you want to put them in the same category; Food, Movies are also featured on these cards.
If your website is writing reviews of the new movies, they can be featured on the Rich Cards too if they are full of quality and backed up either by the audience or some other authority whose voice never goes unheard in the industry.
Even though Google is expanding its market by providing services in as many languages as possible, this is one of the few features that are only available in all the versions of English.
