Much like today’s millennial slang, Google dance is a term that does not have a technical or deep meaning but a creative one instead. Just in accordance with the millennial style of language. Technically it is an unofficial name for the index update feature of Google which was used by them till August 2003.

But the term itself is as dead as Google’s method of evaluating the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ranking in every 36 days a year. The frequency of its’ use is the reason it was called a dance. Even though the Google Dance was a long process it was as important for Google to perform it as it was for their global audience to get their information and news as updated as it can be.

With the ever-changing facts and researches that are supporting the exact same thing today that they were against a week earlier and worldwide news that gets updates every day, it was hard to keep track of the fresh and genuine news.

You can get an idea of how huge a deal it is by knowing that the Google Index runs over ten thousand servers and all the servers are in constant need of updates. The good thing about the servers is that they are so many in numbers that it is possible to put one in the update mode and have all the others carry on the work.

This way all the servers are updated one by one and there is no need to cause inconvenience to the entire system, which would have been a guaranteed disaster if they would have been few in numbers.

But the algorithm and the method of Google have changed ever since they bid goodbye to the popular Google Dance. Since then the updates have been weekly in accordance with the life of the general public who does not need to involve themselves with any serious issues at all on weekends and will get back to the world only on Monday.

The revolutionary Google Bots today are seen as the official replacement of the Google dance. These bots do what all the other robots do; doing the work for humans in a shorter period of time than the human themselves. Since the bots are working day and night without any rest, crawling the website and content through backlinks, there is no need for Google to dance anymore.
