The Google algorithm that is known by the name of Page Rank (PR) pretty much defines itself with such an easy-to-understand title. It is focused on ranking the pages on the basis of their importance that is judged by their credibility and will to provide correct facts and accurate information.
Even though PR only gives a rough sketch of the importance of a page, because it is determined by the quantity and quality of links, it is one of the first algorithms ever used by Google.
As suggested by the name, it is a ranking system and it is a universal rule to rank by handing out points to contestants, and the contestants here are websites.
It can be quite confusing to understand this algorithm but it basically is just a system where all the websites of the same field of work need to be interconnected with each other through links that are counted as Votes in the process.
Each link that connects two websites is counted as a single vote but the weightage and impact of it in the calculation vary depending on exactly how many websites are linked to it.
The number of links and the quality of the partnering websites with which you have created these backlinks also matter a lot in the algorithm.
If you create a backlink with a website that is renowned, seen as an expert, or have a good reputation in the market, the chances are higher that you will be noticed and your content will be given serious attention and consideration by Google Search Engine.
The reason behind this is a notion that is as believable that it has become a fact; that a website enjoying great authority and credibility will never create backlinks with a website whose quality of content as well as intention are not trustable because many people are just using the internet to dupe others.
There is another aspect of this algorithm where the interconnection of all the pages belonging to your website is taken into consideration to give you PageRank Points and the benefit harvested from the links that connect one page of your website to the other pages is called Link Juice.
Along with counting how many pages are connected to a single page through links, a method also used in counting backlinks as votes, PageRank Points provided by the same process is also a factor in handing out points here.
